KI annually awards three prizes to individuals who champion our values.

We honor a champion of inclusion and multi-vocal approaches to the sacred.  Our most recent honoree is Haben Girma for her extraordinary and inspiring leadership toward greater inclusion, particularly for those with disabilities.

donniel hartmanThird Commonwealth Prize

We honor a significant change-agent for the Jewish People.  Our most recent honoree is Rabbi Donniel Hartman, President of Jerusalem’s Shalom Hartman Institute for the peerless work that the Institute has done to strengthen bicontinental bonds between Israeli and North American Jewry.  Their noteworthy efforts continue to make the common project of Israeli and North American Jewry into a more shared project. Michael Sandel helped present the Prize.

anita diamantLove of Judaism Prize

We honor someone who makes people smile upon Judaism.  Our most recent honoree is Anita Diamant, author and founder of the progressive Mayyim Hayyim Mikvah. We held a special service in honor of our past and our future: a service dedicated to alumni & children.

Sarah Kraft Prize

We honor a college student on the first day of Pesach in the memory of Sarah Kraft, of blessed memory.  Jonah Lecker, this year’s awardee, will deliver the sermon on April 20, 2019.

KI’s culture is energized by three principles, each of which is reinforced by a Prize:

Inclusion esteeming multi-vocal authenticity (Dignity of Difference)
Practicing Partnership producing richer Jewish experiences that inspire (Love of Judaism)
