MEMBERSHIP

Congregation Kehillath Israel promotes a Judaism that appreciates questions, embraces complexity, and affirms life. We are a vibrant, dynamic, and multi-generational synagogue.  Our community is for people of all backgrounds and places in life. We offer traditional religious services on a daily basis, plus many opportunities for learning, from nursery school, religious school to adult education, with programs and activities throughout the year for our youth, our families, our adults and our seniors.

DISCOVER

Go through our website and find out more about KI, including upcoming programs and learning opportunities.  Most events are open to the greater community.

We have services twice daily; join our minyan, or stop by the office and request a tour.  And on Shabbat, come to daven, stay to eat!  Introduce yourself to one of our welcomers and they will answer questions, show you where to find prayerbooks, introduce you to the Rabbi and answer any questions about our mishpacha (family).  At KI, everyone is welcome.

BELONG

We offer many paths to synagogue involvement: prayer, education, celebration and social activities, all within the framework of an egalitarian, traditional synagogue.  Our goal is to create dynamic relationships among our members through a sense of belonging.

As you start to attend services or any of our other programs, classes or activities, we hope you will feel that you have found a second home.  Come to KI to celebrate Jewish holidays and lifecycle events, develop life-long friendships, expand your Jewish horizons, find comfort in times of need, and feel valued, supported, and included…where you belong—you to us and us to you—generation to generation.

COMMIT

KI is a membership-based community. We ask you to commit your voice, your presence, and your resources.

Our members have a voice in shaping this community, and demonstrate their commitment to its future, and to the future of Jewish values around the world.  Through our annual meeting, service on our Board of Trustees, or one of our other committees, our members set our priorities and decide how we engage with our partners and the world at large.

We ask your presence, not just for the High Holy Days, but to be truly part of our community, whether that means daily or occasional attendance at services, joining the softball team, learning Talmud or attending lectures or social gatherings.  Whatever makes you feel at home.

And we ask for your financial support.  Annual membership contributions provide the bulk of our annual budget, allowing us to provide our many spiritual, educational and social programs.  Financial wealth has never been the basis for participation or membership in KI, and annual contributions are determined by what each individual feels is their “fair share” based on their own financial situation.

Your membership contribution is your commitment to yourself, your family and to Jewish continuity.
